As our world faces the ongoing climate crisis, one of the most important things we can do is protect and restore forests in the Pacific Northwest and Southeast Alaska.

Storing more carbon per acre than tropical rainforests, these forests are a vital natural climate solution. Unfortunately, these forests are still being logged — releasing carbon into the atmosphere and contributing to the problem.

This story map highlights some specific examples of imminent logging, and calls on the Biden administration to embrace forest protection in the fight against climate change.
