Resolution of the Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce

Resolution

Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce
PO Box 199
Gualala CA 95445

Resolution of the Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce, of the California counties of Mendocino and Sonoma, opposing the export of Gualala River Water.

The Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, non-partisan organization promoting the general welfare and prosperity of northern Sonoma and southern Mendocino County’s coastal area, giving attention and emphasis to the economic, civic, commercial, cultural and educational interests of the area. Our organization fosters and promotes those activities that enhance the economy, preserve the environment, and provide opportunities for gainful employment and cultural satisfaction to the citizens of the area.

The Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce serves communities from Fort Ross in Sonoma County to Irish Beach in Mendocino County. The Chamber currently enjoys the membership and support of over 150 local businesses, cottage industries and other non-profit organizations.

The Chamber concurs with our member organization, Friends of the Gualala River, in the protest against extracting water from the Gualala River for numerous environmental issues and in particular, the Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce recognizes that pristine views of a non-industrialized estuary and ocean are key features of the area and upon which our local economy is heavily dependent.

Therefore, be it resolved that the Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce supports the resolutions of the Boards of Supervisors of both Mendocino and Sonoma Counties opposing the export of Gualala River water (permit application #31194 for Alaska Water/Gualala River) and supports the many concerns listed therein.

Respectfully submitted,

Jan Harris
President, Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce
