Friends of the Gualala River (FoGR) sponsored an award at the Art in the Redwoods Festival in 2012, for the eleventh year in a row. A cash prize contributed by the Friends of the Gualala River was given to the artist whose work best captured the ecology of the Gualala River watershed.

Congratulations to local nature photographer, Scott Chieffo, whose photograph “Fallen Giant” (above) received the Environmental Art award sponsored by Friends of the Gualala River at the 2012 Art in the Redwoods Fine Art Exhibit.

Thanks, Scott, for capturing this inspiring image of our local redwood ecosystem!

The 51th annual Art in the Redwoods Festival took place on Saturday, August 18 and Sunday, August 19, 2012, and featured about 400 fine art entries.

The fine art exhibit is on display at the Gualala Arts Center through September 2. There is no charge to see the exhibit, which is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays, and from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
